The Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MCOT Public Company for their cooperation in mobilizing efforts against corruption and raising public awareness of the damaging effects of corruption on society.
The MOU was signed on 3 July 2020 by NACC Secretary-General Warawit Sukboon and President of MCOT Public Company Kematat Paladesh.
The objective is to prevent and suppress corruption and malfeasance, in accordance with the Master Plan under the 20-year National Strategy (2017-2036). The master plan is designed to create an anti-corruption culture and mechanisms that are effective in fighting corruption.
The anti-corruption drive is also in line with the Cabinet resolution on 16 June 2020, when state media organizations were instructed to raise awareness on the Integrity and Transparency Assessment (ITA) among members of the public and state officials across the country, so that they would take part in the ITA process. Their participation will help develop public services for greater efficiency and the performance of officials for greater transparency.
Moreover, the MOU also aims to promote the operations of MCOT as an integrity and transparency organization, which plays an important role in tackling corruption on a sustainable basis.
Both NACC and MCOT hoped that their anti-corruption cooperation would encourage state officials and the people nationwide to join hands in fighting corruption and misconduct, as well as promoting integrity and transparency. In so doing, the general public will be provided with better government services, in accordance with the goal set in the National Strategy.
