The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) recently summarized the results of the Integrity and Transparency Assessment against corruption in the operations of state agencies for the 2019 fiscal year.

NACC Secretary-General Warawit Sukboon, who is also the NACC Spokesperson, stated that, with the results of the assessment, NACC would submit its suggestions on anti-corruption efforts in the public sector to the Cabinet.

In 2018, the Cabinet approved the proposal by NACC for all agencies in the public sector to cooperate with the NACC in joining its Integrity and Transparency Assessment for the fiscal years 2018-2021.

Later in January 2019, the Cabinet told NACC to urge various state agencies to conduct the Integrity and Transparency Assessment program and monitor their operations in doing so.

According to Mr. Warawit, the year 2019 was the first year that NACC adopted the ITA System (ITAS) to collect information for the Integrity and Transparency Assessment program. The system has enabled NACC to handle information management with greater efficiency.

As a result, a total of 8,299 state agencies joined the assessment. Most of them are local administrative organizations, as well as ministries and departments. More than one million people across the country also took part in the program to reflect their awareness of the integrity and transparency of state organizations in Thailand.

Over the past year, the 8,299 state agencies have updated and disclosed their information under the same standards. Many of them have also offered e-service for greater transparency, in response to the demands of the people.

In the current outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), people are found to be able to have greater access to state information and services through the information technology system on a continual basis.
