Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has called on state officials and the general public to take part in the Integrity and Transparency Assessment (ITA) program to curb corruption in the public sector.

The Prime Minister said that the corruption problem has affected public administration, economic development, trade, and investment, as well as the favorable image of the country. The Government has included the fight against corruption in Thailand’s national agenda, so that serious efforts would be made to ease the problem and everyone would be aware of the dangers of corruption.

Thailand intends to raise its score in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI). Each year, Transparency International conducts a survey on the CPI. In the CPI 2020, Thailand ranked 104th among 180 countries.

Determined to fight corruption seriously, the Prime Minister said that the Government has joined hands with the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) in mobilizing the 20-year National Strategy on Public Sector Rebalancing and Development, aimed at reforming the public sector based on the concept of "a public sector of the people, for the people and the public interest.” The objective is to create a transparent public sector, free from corruption and malfeasance, with good governance.

Toward this aim, he said, the Government has instructed all agencies in the public sector to implement ITA, which was developed by NACC. In this regard, officials and the public were invited to participate in the efforts to upgrade Thailand’s transparency.

They were also urged to help improve public systems by evaluating their contacts or received services dealing with government agencies and recording them via http://itas.nacc.go.th from 1 April to 31 May 2021, for the ITA 2021.
